Talk to a consultant
Bwindi covers 331 square kilometres of montane and lowland forest along Uganda's south-western border, and it is one of the few places on earth where you can stand within metres of a wild mountain gorilla. The forest is ancient — parts of it have been continuously wooded for more than 25,000 years — and it is dense enough that trails have to be cut by hand as you walk. Trekking is organised from four sectors: Buhoma, Ruhija, Rushaga and Nkuringo.
